Error: Failed to connect to QlikView Server

Hi

What does the following error message indicates?

9/26/2012 7:44:26 AM Error Failed to connect to QlikView Server. This error is most likely because the server is not contactable or that the account the QlikView Distribution Service is running as is lacking permissions. This can be caused by the QVS being busy. Have you installed the governance dashboard to see what the performance of the system looks like?

I'm having the same issue. When it occurs, I am unable to ping the QVS server from the Web server. Any thoughts?

Hi,

It sounds like a firewall issue.

The qvp protocol operates over port 4747.

Cheers,

Simon

Bill,

Yes, I have the Governance Dashboard. I'm also remoted into the system at the time these issues occur and there's generally little to no activity on the server at the time.

Hello,

you told us nothing about your infrastructure nor anything about the location of the error. Is it the webserver, the publisher or client app.

The error messages you send seem to depend on the network layer. So firewall is one idea but what about name resolution. Is your nameserver responding?

Are you able to ping your Serverp01 in the moment, the error occurs?

hello,

Any further updates to this? Please let me know. This issue could be related to the same issue we are having with document distribution.

Below the error where the document did not distributed to all nodes. we have checked the servers memory where document did not get distributed and is at minimum working set(was not paging and still 174 GB of free space). and there are no connection drops between publisher and QVS.

in the task log we see document is not distributed to all the nodes in the cluster and failed to connect to Qlikview server and connection to the QVS server is been lost.
