How to restrict view of a published document

Hi ,

we had created 3 type of reports one is MIS another one is Accounts and another one is HR doc's. We published these three doc's in our server. the problem is all these three docs are displaying in user login but what we need is it should not show all docs to everyone for eg: HR department should view only the doc which are published to them and accounts team should not view the doc which is published to management how to restrict this by creating a group or by creating a folder??

Put the files in separate folders (on the file system) and set NTFS permissions to allow each group only access to the folder the document for the group is in.

Hi

regarding authorization on docs (in a nutshell, more on qlikview server reference manual and online help of your qlikview server):

for qlikview small business edition server you can only use NTFS authorization

for qlikview enterprise server you can choose NTFS and DMS

http://community.qlik.com/message/215992#215992

assuming you're using NTFS (Windows Users and Windows Security file permissions)

in NTFS you control authorization by defining access to folder/doc for windows group/user

http://community.qlik.com/message/402920#402920

http://community.qlik.com/message/395551#395551

In your case you could create 3 windows groups (one for HR, ecc...), 3 folders (one for HR, ....) and assign the appropriate windows permissions to these groups on 3 folders

if you're using DMS hope someone else could help you as I never used it

Hi Satishkumar,

You have created 3 reports in single QlikView Application or these are different applications????

Hi,

If you have 3 separate dashboards and assigned separate login id's for the respective department, then you can set the condition in the qlikview management console:

qlikview management console - documents - user documents - <select the document> authorization tab:

assign the id.

hi,

we have created 3 separate documents.

  • HR
  • Accounts
  • IT

How to set access, so that HR Users can see only the HR document. Similarly for Accounts and IT documents respectively.

Kindly advise me

Hi,

Create 3 folders, put your 3 documents in them accordingly.

Then create 3 groups and provide the access of particular folder to particular group only.

This way HR document will be visible to people present inside the HR folder and so on.

Hope this helps!
