So, vi have 3 QVS behind a load balancer. When going via LB address (https://load-balancer/qlikview) everything works just fine, the 3 servers have equally load.
Then we have some (quite a few) users that like QV Desktop, using qvp://. They have to go directly to one of our servers.
Now, is there a way to load balance that protocol as well?
I've heard it's not working, is that true?
That was my originally plan and it sounded easy enough. What I understood from the mail from Qlik it's unfortunately not that simple... and not supported.
I'll have myself another thought about this... If load balancing becomes too unequal between the servers maybe I'll try the above.
The reply from QlikView only says that the QlikView server itself cannot provide Load Balancing, only QlikViews own web server (AccessPoint) can.
If in your current configuration you can connect your Desktop to a single QVS from the cluster with success (which is what you say your dekstop users have to do at the moment), then the load balancing hardware that you use to send http: // sessions to one of three IIS servers can do the same with qvp:// sessions.
That should be simple. qvp:// is just another port/protocol combination like http: //.
I may have missed something, but based on the details you provided, I think it is still "easy enough" to try it out.
