Need to limit which dashboards are visible in the Access Point

I’m trying to limit access (by Windows user account) to specific QVWs in our access point.

We’d like to ideally have one or more client-specific id’sassociated with one or more QVWs that only they are permitted to see.

Also, if we can filter the available QVWs in the accesspoint landing page to the ones that that user is permitted to open, that would be ideal.

Is something like this possible? What’s the best way to go about configuring QV Server for that?

How do you have your server configured:

Publisher (Y/N)?

If you are using publisher, this can be done under the 'Distribute' tab.

Otherwise, it will depend on the next question...

Security (NTFS/DMS)?

No Publisher. Using a standalone Windows Server 2008 (no domain).

Hi.

You can have folders with .qvw:s inside them.

And then set NTFS AD group permissions on the folders, and use inheritage.

So each .qvw inside the folder inherits what is set on the folder.

You can then have folders which are open, all users can see the docs.

And folders with ad group permissions.

And .qvw:s which only specific users can see.

I found one good way of hiding files is set the attribute of the file to hide.

Right Click the desired file -> General Tab -> Attributes: Hidden ( check it)

Hope this will solve your problem.

Hi,

Most of the replys are pointing you in the correct direction. If you don't have publisher you will have to set NTFS permissions on the files. You can also do this through DMS security. If you set the server to DMS mode you will find an additional Tab "Authorization" where you can add the users.
