Hi,
I'm trying to add the licence of my QlikView Server Small Business Edition.
As it often happens, I cannot add directly the licence number in one of the Management Consoles because the QlikView server Service cannot start (it says that's because the QlikView Server is unlicensed), but when I go the licence tab in Management console, I've a message that I cannot add my licence number because the QlikView Server service isn't started [:D].
Anyway That's not the first time I've this problem. I used to workaround this problem by creating the lef file directly in a folder in Windows Server 2003. But today, that's the first time I use Windows Server 2008 and it's not the same directories.
Do you know where to create the QlikView Server lef file on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition ?
Best Regards
Try %PROGRAMDATA%\QlikTech .

Joachim
Joachim is right. The lef.txt goes into %PROGRAMDATA%\QlikTech.
You could also try and disable UAC as I've seen a number of cases where you cannot register properly if UAC is enabled. You disable UAC in Win2k8 R2 in the Control Panel -> System and security (top right you will have Change User Account Control settings). Once QVS is registered and working you can enable UAC again (recommended)
Thanks for your helps.
I did not realize that the ProgramData folder was hidden even with my admin rights.
Now it works
Best regards
I'm having a similar problem. We upgraded from Windows 2003 Server to Windows 2008 Server. I'm reinstalling 9.0 SR4 and I am unable to enter my QVS license info. on either the QEMC or QMC. I literally cannot type anything. I was able to enter my publisher license key and control number just fine. I went to the ProgramData folder and created a Lef.txt file like you recommended but nothing happened. Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks,
rob
