QlikView server license, when to apply updated license for new period?

I currently have a license on my server that will expire on 12/31/2022, we have paid for and acquired the LEF, control number, and serial number for our 2023 licensing.  do I need to wait until 12:00 AM 1/1 to apply the new license, or can it be applied earlier?

I have read that article previously, I know how, I'm asking about when, is there any overlap of the two licenses, or does the new license need to be applied once the old one has expired, or will the server run on the new license if I apply it prior to the expiration of the current license.

You shouldn't have to wait until a license expires in order to update it.
