QlikView service DSC stops running

Hi all,

Does anyone of you has experience with a service crash on the Management Console? We face this almost every day... We need to restart the QV service on the server to get it back on. The service which stops is called DSC@servername. The version we are running is: QV10 SR4. I hope anyone of you can help us out here.

Kind regards,

Henco

Well, the first post did not capture everything I wrote.  From what I can see you have some issues in your QVPR, and I think the best thing is to go ahead and open up a Support case at this point, so we can get the additional information we will need and/or just do a WebEx to have a direct look at things with you to try to sort out what is happening here.  We should be able to fix it, but should you not wish to do this, the best work around of which I can think is to stop your QMS service, then rename your QVPR folder in ProgramData\QlikTech\(not sure what version you are running either, so I can't give you exact path, but I think you will know), and rename the qvpr....ini file as well, then restart the QMS which will create a new QVPR etc.  All your tasks will be gone, but if you do not have too many, it may be faster to just recreate things.  We should be able to fix things though if you do create the Support case with us.  Sorry I cannot do more via the forum for you on this one.

What does the DSC log file have in it?

Agree with Gary's comment, but I would also check the QMS log as well, as it may have further information to point in the direction of the underlying issue as well.  It is most likely a timeout issue in contacting the directory service, and you can change this by going to the QEMC\System\Setup and expand your DSC folder and then the DSC resource down to where you can click on the appropriate DSP you are using to reach your directory.  Once there, click on that DSP, and then to the right you will see a pencil icon in the configuration row of the DSP configuration settings.  Click that icon, and you will get a dialog where you can set the cache timeout and the connect timeout, and in this case, I would probably double the connect timemout to give things more time to negotiate.  You could also increase the cache timeout as well to put more time between the cache updates from the directory which may help as well.  If you find any errors in the logs, and the above does not help, please post any warning or error messages you see in either log.

Hi Brett,

We renamed the folder and after that the service hasn't quit anymore. So, I guess the problem is solved.
Thanks a lot for your help.
