AJAX Excel Export Ideas...

Hi All,

Based on the forums, this is a VERY popular subject (Qlik - some functionality missing?!).

My clent has moved, as often recommended, to the AJAX client but they have a large group of users that insist on having some additional meta-data when exporting objects to Excel. Namely User, Application Name, Object Name and date of export.

Does anyone have any half-decent ideas about how to do this? Ideally it needs to be flexible and (fairly) low maintenance!

My only idea so far is:

- Export to CSV (using 'export' action) then ask Excel  to do some processing to generate the object etc. This doesn't sound easy nor maintainable to me.

Thanks.

See the attached file.

It uses two objects, where the underlaying object has additional expressions for username, documentname and time, only on the first row.

The overlaying object has no title, so the title (and export button) is actually the object underneath (which on export will include the additional columns you specify).

In what format do you (your customer) want this metadata when exporting?

Ideally in excel, with the metadata as showing below the object data (like the current selections does)
