Allocated memory exceeded across a network but on Similar Laptops

Hi,

I am asking another user to open up a QVW across a network and he having an error on a table.

"Allocated memory exceeded."

He is also in the Phillipines where I am in UK.

Are there any settings I should look for that are country related?

His specs are:

Usually this error message has boiled down to nasty bugs when you have complicated expressions in certain charts. The container object as such has had some problems too. So this might not at all be a matter of too little RAM in the PC's you are using.

Is this an application you made yourself - if so can you describe whether you have complicated expressions in any of the charts.

What kind of charts experience these problems - is it one or multiple? Does the error message occur immediately when he is opening the application or after a while when using it?

It might even be a symptom of a complex or too complex data model that might need to be tuned. Could you share a screenshot of the Table Viewer?

Are there any synthetic keys in the data model?

As per my knowledge its not the issue with the PC..It might be the issue with the availability of the RAM. Qlikview is an in-memory application you need enough RAM in order to open a file ..

try like this ask problem facing person to close all the apps which are consuming the RAM and try to open this document it should open....then also check the RAM size  on his machine

Looking at the specs, the Phillipines laptop has more RAM and faster processors. There's also a 32-bit/64-bit difference.

I agree with you that the user needs to try opening with everything else closed down to see if the issue persists.

Hi,

I dont have any Syn Keys, but I have made alot of cross tables in the load script based on one key into the min table.

Would these extra tables be enough to cause RAM issues?

avinashelite

if you have any unused tables or columns in the script ....then delete those tables or columns at the end of your script so that will reduce the size of the file to certian extent ...

we are only talking 200mb QVW, this is not large. I can delete more columns in the load script.

avinashelite

whats the RAM size of the PC where its not working ?

Hi,

its 4gb, but I need to check how much RAM is being used when Qlik is run.

avinashelite

did you tried to close all other documents and then try to open the QVW ?
