Are these "joints" are good or bad?

I'm just wondering if this kind of "joints" are a good thing or a bad thing.
Could you help me understanding what's the purpose of these "joints" and if it's a good or a bad thing?

there doesnt seem to be any problem. its not a synthetic key.

But I would recommend you try and denormalize the schema into a star schema as much as possible.

that will give you much better performance.
