Button to Show/Hide a Calculated Dimension

I have a calculated dimension in a chart to display only specific months. I would like to create a button to somehow show this field as the calculated dimension I have set, then if pressed, the button would would turn off the dimension and display the whole field. I have not done a lot of work with button and I am not sure how this would be set up and if it would involve a macro of sorts.

Can anyone help me or point me to an article explaining how this is set up?

for me it is not problem of show/hide.

It is some problem, that you two calculated dims doesn't want to co-exist.

i removed last dimension and turn off all conditions. So, keyplus dim and two "if" dims should be showed. But they aren't

I feel. that it may be some dimension formula problem or even expression problem.

Your data model looks strange!!!!

Well thanks but that doesnt help much. My data is as is because we needed to replicate a current report we have and this was the only way.

Data model is foundation of your application.

As you surely know, sometimes the same expression will give you different results on different data model. Especially in QlikView, where you have associations.

For me it is strange when you load first table and next you load 2'nd table resident from first one with the same fields names. Qlikview uses kenames to know that fields in different tables are keys.

IRR_Data:

LOAD

.

.

.

Qrtr_Break:

LOAD *,

....

RESIDENT IRR_Data;

Do you know how many rows do you have in your application?

The first table should be dropped, the drop statement was somehow removed in the last couple days.

OK

please do one thing for me. Change for a moment your chart type into sraight table. On the straight table i can see all 4 dimensions together.

Please look if you have all intersections, you expect and if results are proper.

I replaced the drop table, so you can see I just have the one table. I layed the chart out into a straight table, which will not work for how I need it, but you can see the fields laid out. Basically I have Column_Fields which is all of my date ranges and some other naming conventions I created in SAS prior. Column_Fields2 is the same field, with all the character like names selected, but only 12 months.

Most of the time my end users are looknig at just the 12 months and character field totals, but sometimes they will need to pull in all months/years. I am trying to make the button show allow me to either view Keyplus, Metric Colum_Fields2, and Amount, or show me Keyplus, Metric, Column_Fields, and Amount.

Right now the button only hides/shows Column_Fields... I need it to show one and then hide the other... and vice versa...

I hope this now finally explains my situation, this has been much more difficult that I anticipated.

I'm afraid that despite the sincere desire really can not help you in a reasonable time. According to me the problem is deeper than just a mechanism to hide or show dimension.
I tried to view your formula calculated dimension. I see that you have used this dimension to get rid of unwanted values. That means the current version say that chart is always calculated the entire collection . Then you say ( in the dimension calculated ) , so for some of the results he coordinates computed by the dimension and the other does not ( excluded a date range ) . Then you say that chart is not presented nuls for this dimension . This is not a good idea. Much more efficiently will reduce the set of " input " through a set of analysis . Then the calculation results will be much faster and you will not need kalkulowanego dimension , since all the calculated results will be subject to the presentation ( that is, your size will be calculated exactly in line with its initial full dimension of " column_fields " ) .

I keep my fingers crossed for success !

One of the short comings of QV 11 is that the buttons don't toggle.

I have resolved a similar issue by having two buttons and two charts With a variable.

The buttons are used to set the variable And the appropriate chart is displayed Using the conditional settings.

SO default is chart A and button B ,

when button B is selected it changes the variable to show chart B and Button A ,

when button A is select , chart A appears and button B.

if you align the buttons and charts exactly in the same x/y coordinates  , it does appear like a proper toggle.

this approach can be used to create a full menu for selection of different charts.

The expression in a chart can also be changed by using a series of buttons to trigger a new value.

Try this.
