Can QVW be congiured to allow users to create a report via a published document in AccessPoint?

We would like our users to be able to design/create a report from their published apps via Accesspoint - versus our developers creating the reports during the development process. Is this possible

Hello Ellen,

The Small Business Edition license of Server, allows users to create their own reports provided the objects are allowed to be moved/sized (object properties, layout tab) as opposed to the document reports (those created by developers, stored within the document, available for any user). These reports will only be available to the user that created them, and cannot be shared.

The Enterprise Edition license of Server allows to use Server objects or collaboration objects so these reports can be shared by any user to all or some of them.

If you are not sure of the license you have, go to the QlikView Console, System, Licenses, QlikView Server, QlkView Server License and check the LEF contents.

As far as I know, report creation is allowed in both Plugin (Menu, Reports...) and Desktop (open in server) but not in AJAX (you can use the reports already created, but not create new ones).

Hope that helps.

Thank you Miguel. We have Enterprise Edition, and we are presenting the apps via AccessPoint in AJAX, so you have covered it all.

Hmm, maybe I have some clarifying questions . . . When viewing an app in AccessPoint, we do not allow Java or IE Plugin options for our users - only AJAX. Does that mean that, even with collaboration turned on, they will not have the ability to add their report? Sounds like our only option for making print-ready, pre-formatted reports available to users is to create them during the application development process, then allow users to print/view them from AccessPoint.

Hello Ellen,

That's right. Take a look at both menu bars (Plugin and AJAX). In AJAX there is a dropdown list of already created reports (document reports) but there's no button to add new ones.

They do can use already existing and shared bookmarks and objects, but as far as I know there is no collaboration pane in the AJAX client.

Hope that helps.
