Change to number format while exporting to excel

Hi everyone,

Whenever i export data from chart to excel the data in money format(eg. $101,785.69) of epression is stored as 'number as text format' in excel. Is there any way to store it in number format in excel automatically when exported? I am using QV ver11.

Thanks,

Murali

Hi Murali

I am having the same problem, which is why I found your question here. My data is just sum totals, yet it arrives in Excel (2003/XP) as text. Calculations added in the resulting spreadsheet then don't recognise the data. It seems the answer is to copy the data to the windows clipboard and paste it back into excel by hand, rather than use the 'send-to-excel' button option. I arrived at this conclusion having read this: http://community.qlik.com/message/30509#30509

I have to say that seems a bit silly to me, but at least copy-paste via the clipboard seems to work.

Graham
