Charts and % change based on a set date

I know this may be real easy, but I have spent countless hours trying to get a chart to show a percentage change based on let us say 01/03/2011.

For example, on 1/03/2011 the price was $50.00. Each day the price may go up or down and today the price is $58.00

I cannot seem to get the chart to always look at 1/03/2011 and use that as the base for the division…. Any ideas?

I have tried Above but it doesnt seem to work

Instead of above() you can use top().

Set analysis could also be used to fix the reference date of the price.
