Hi,
I have two data models for the same application. datamodel 1 is with the synthetic key and the second data model is without the synthetic key.
When you look in the data model without the synthetic key, the key field in all the tables are created by concatenating the date fields and region fields for each table and in order to link to the master calendar i have linked only the bill_register table's date_key column with the master calendar's date_key column when in fact in the first data model screenshot you can see the master calendar linked to all the tables.
My question is , Is it is necessary to link the master calendar to all the table's date fields as shown in the datamodel with the synthetic key or only one table would be enough.
I have attached the screenshots of both the datamodels
Also can i create a link table in this scenario.

Nadeem
Hi,
in data model we use two method
first-- centralized all transaction table with using (Concatenate, left join,or others) then link master tables.
second- create more than one transaction table using key and link with master tables.
check examples of qvw files given in site.
read more about data model...snow flag and star .

Hi Vimlesh,
I already know about this and have already created the data model .
Did you have a look at my data model.
I do not want to concatente and stuff as this model is just used as a data dump from all the tables.

Probably the Common Date technique may solve your issue
Hi jonathan,
what do you mean by common date technique .
Have a look at thread below:

There is another technique called Date Islands
