DAta Load from ODBC & OLEDB Connection

Hello All,

Would like to know when we connect through ODBC or OLEDB in qlikview, and when we load the data in qlikview. does the data gets extracted in qlikview's in-memory?? and if this file is saved as QVW and is shared with someone else, will that person be able to open this QVW file on his machine ? (as the data is now extracted in qlikview memory) OR he would need the same credentials of the connection.

Thanks.

The data is stored in the .qvw document when you save the document. Another person that opens the saved document can work with the stored data. If the other person wants to refresh the data, i.e. reload the document, then his/her computer will need to have to oledb and/or odbc drivers installed and a configured odbc connection if odbc is used.

Hi Aditi,

Once the connection is established and the data is extracted in the qvw application. Then the table with the data resides in the application.

On sharing, the other user should have qlikview installed on the machine to open the qvw on his machine. The credentials for the ODBC or OLEDB is not required.

If the user wants to refresh the data. Then the credentials are required,in order to modify the exisiting data in the shared qvw.

Hi Aditi,

Above said gwassenaar is true adding to that other person also need to have licenced qlickview acess, if he has free or trail version he can't able to open more than 5 QWV files created by others.
