On installing the Qlikview Server , Following gets installed automatically :
QlikView Server and examples, the QlikView Distribution Service, the Directory Service Connector, the QlikView Web Server and the QlikView Management Server.
DOes QLikview Publisher has to be installed separately ?? IT is not installed with server installation automatically ??
If you buy only server you get one type of LEF, if you buy server with publisher you get another type of LEF. You have to pay extra for publisher. Publisher doesn't come free with server. If you buy publisher as well, they will provide you a different LEF.
It is about licensing. Once you install server(without publisher license) you can just update your LEF that has publisher enabled content(it has to be bought separately from Qlik), then you get publisher features by restarting the services without reinstallation.
Hi,
Without server publisher can not work.So u should have server for installing publisher.
thanks
How could server be installed without a license ??? DOes license for installing QLikview server and Publisher license both different ??
And updating LEF will get me Publisher , Right ??
ANd will it has all the functionality that a licensed publisher has ??

Hey tresesco ,
Now my confusion resolved. Thanx. But can you tell em WHat is this LEF ??
Hi,
The publisher component is part of the standard QlikView Server software installation, but is activated by purchasing it from Qlik who will give you a new LEF licence for Server+Publisher.
Publisher then extends and enhances the abilities of ‘QlikView Distribution Service’ ,there is a white paper on the community somewhere about the differences.
You can also install server and publisher on separate machines, contact Qlik and they will provide you with a Server LEF and a publisher LEF. This is useful to move the reload processing workload onto a dedicated reload server.
LEF is the Licence Enablement File, or licence and control number as supplied by Qlik when you place the software order.
HEy,
THanx for clearing it more. But can you also provide me the link for white paper containing the differences between publisher and distribution service ?
Thanx.
