Date Formatting Issue

Good morning folks,

I'm trying to match two tables using a Key so that I can get my records to be a little more unique.  I'm having an issue with my date field within the key and not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  • When I load my data, my [Transaction Date] looks normal:  12/06/2019
  • When add the transaction date to my key the date is coming out as:  43805

This is the key I'm creating:  [Employee ID] & [Transaction Date] & [Transaction Amount] as MatchKey

The source of data is a spreadsheet.

I have seen this happen in Excel, but not in QV.

Is there something the QV is interpreting that I'm not understanding/formatting correctly?

Appreciate your input....thanks, George

QV recognizes the field as numeric including the date. Numeric (integer) is better for using as a key. You can however let Qlik know you want a text field (ascii), by specifying that the field is a date.

[Employee ID] & date([Transaction Date]) & [Transaction Amount]  as MatchKey
