Dimension Limits - Others total

Hi,

I been just checking out the Dimension limit options and found one alternative there which is causing overstated results.

When I am marking collapse inner dimension OFF, its giving correct figure for Others row total but when I am marking collapse inner dimension ON the figure for Others row figure is getting wrong. Screen captures and application is attached.

Why is this happening? on what values is it calculating the figure when collapse inner dimension is ON ?

Also, Global Grouping Mode is not making any impact on figures. Can anyone please make me understand this feature with my attached example qvw  ?

Regards,

T

From help: Straight Table ‒ QlikView

Options Show Others
Enabling this option will produce an Others segment in the chart. All dimension values that do not meet the comparison criteria for the display restrictions will be grouped into the Others segment. If there are dimensions after the selected dimension, Collapse Inner Dimensions will control whether individual values for the subsequent / inner dimensions display on the chart.

Label
Enter the name you wish to display in the chart. If no text is entered, the label will be automatically set to the expression text. The value may be entered as a calculated formula. Click on the ... button to open the Edit Expression dialog.

Show Total
The chart will display a total for the selected dimension when this option is enabled. This total behaves differently than the expression total, which is still configured on the Expressions tab of the property dialog.

Label
Enter the name you wish to display in the chart. If no text is entered, the label will be automatically set to the expression text. The value may be entered as a calculated formula. Click on the ... button to open the Edit Expression dialog.

Global Grouping Mode
The option only applies to inner dimensions. When this option is enabled the restrictions will be calculated on the selected dimension only. All previous dimensions will be ignored. If this is disabled, the restrictions are calculated based on all preceding dimensions.

I already have gone through help section but I could not understand what exactly it says and its meaning. Also, I am facing overstated amount of Others row when putting collapse inner dimension control to ON.

If you see the attached qvw, there is a user case there. When you put the collapse inner dimension control to OFF, its giving 9000 figure for Others total but when you put collapse inner dimension control to ON it will give you the figure of 18000 for Others which is incorrect figure.

Also, global grouping mode is not making any impact on the figure.

Please make me understand with the use case attached in the original message.

Thanks in advance

Let's start with a different angle. Instead of why, try to get how. May be then it would be easier to resolve this why as well.  What are you expecting to see?

Basically, I am not to achieve something. Its a dummy data. I am exploring the feature of Qlikview and I stuck here. So, if we come from your angle then the question would be that how its making 18000 figure when collapse inner dimension check is ON.

Also, can you show me the working or function of Global Grouping Mode in the attached qvw example  please ?
