I think its a general query, I have a chart which shows the list of mandated and non-mandated CSR calling list. I search for a Manager, look for the list, it shows even the managers name in the list if he has made any calls... I want to get rid of this, In short I dont want to see the name of the person whom I am searching with in the Chart...I want to exclude the selection I make....
I assume you have two fields in play here, something like User and Manager? You make the selection in Manager, but the Manager is also in the User list? You want to show every User with Manager equal to your selection except the Manager?
What expression are you using?
Something like:
Sum({<User-=Manager>} Calls)
You will need to modify it for your field names and expressions.
Maybe you can try with set analysis. Something like this depending on your data structure (from QV help).
sum( {$<~Ingredient = {"*garlic*"}>} Sales ) returns the sales for current selection, but with a forced exclusion of all Ingredients containing the string 'garlic'
sum( {-($+BM01)} Sales ) returns sales excluded by current selection and bookmark BM01
I tried it from SA.. but looks like it doesnt suit my need... and your eg is somewhat correct to what I am using... so instead of entering Manager, what if I want anyvalue I search for.. as the Manager could be a sales, acct man or analyst...and if hes a manager he will have other guys assigned whose list is seen, when I search with the name... But this name also shows along with the other guys...
I think we probably need some more specific information about your data structure. What field is the selection being made on? What field are the other names in? What expressions are you using?
Set Analysis is probably the most powerful feature of QlikView. When working with selections it becomes even more so. How does Set Analysis not suit your needs here?
