Exporting Pivot with a Dual value as Dimension to Excel gives numeric value in extra column

Hi!

I have a Pivot table that is a cross table of 2 dimensions. Both dims happen to be duals.

When I export the table to Excel I get the text rep of the dual in the first column (as required), but in column B (where there really should be nothing) I get the dual's numeric value.

If I swap the dimensions around I get the same behaviour on the other dual (i.e. it's always the first dim that does this).

If I \uncross' the table I don't get this behaviour at all.

Attached is an example of what the exported excel sheet looks like.

Question is: what is the cause of this??

Hi Brian,

By default QlikView treats fields with dual values as numbers. I have attached a sample of overcoming this problem. Please let me know if this helps!

Please take a look at the attachment in the original post to see what I'm trying to work out. The Pivot table exports the numeric value of the dual for no good reason.

Good morning. I saw the excel file and it is loading the numeric value of Dual function. Please can you upload the sample QV document? I wanted to see the Load Script.

I tried to rebuild the situation you described above, but in vain. All my excel-exports of my "dual-dimension" worked fine, even though I tried hard to find a "bad" combination of crossing, changing dims etc.

What about a sample app to see what's behind the curtain ?

DV, I hope you don't mind. I've 'borrowed' your example model to produce my own . See attached.

Here you can see 2 dual dimensions in a cross table pivot. Click the excel button and you get the result attached (at least that's what I get!)

I'm on v10 SR3 with Office 2007.

got it!

I needed to reproduce this "feature" two dual-dims side by side in a pivot and one of them crossed. Then you can "earn" the numeric values of the second dual-dim in the excel-export.

Hi Brian, seems to be a bug. I think You should report it to your local QT-Partner or to your QT-Rep.

Brian - No problem at all for using my example . I agree with Roland. I have the same problem now.
