Hi,
I want to create ODBC connection to Oracle which is installed on personal desktop.
Generally I used Scott and tiger(passord) to connect SQL plus to work on Employee table.
I wanted to fletch the data from local oracle database.
OS - Win8
Below is my tnsnames.ora file:
# tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
LISTENER_ORCL =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = HariCh)(PORT = 1522))
ORCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = HariCh)(PORT = 1522))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
)
)
EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = PLSExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
)
)
when I tried to create odbc connection it asking me few details are:
Data Source Name?
Description?
TNS Service Name?
User ID?
Service Name?
User Name? is it Scott?
Password? is it tiger?
Thank you.
Install the drivers: Connectivity to Oracle Database
Set up an ODBC connection: Setting Up an ODBC Data Source for Oracle
Use the previously defined ODBC connection to select and load data: New to QlikView: Load Data from ODBC - YouTube
Check this Oracle ODBC connection guide
You could also try to download and install qliks connector package which includes drivers for Oracle databases.
works for QV and QS but the online help is only for QS so far: http://help.qlik.com/Connectors/en-us/connectors/
