I am new to qlikview tool. I was asked to generate a massive report which is to be generated periodically on first week of every month and send this report to a given email address. In SQL/Oracle database, we can create a job file for this kind of automated report.
Please suggest is there a way to do it in Qlikview?
Thanks,
Learner
Yes, it can be done, and I believe is fairly straightforward in version 9. We're still on version 8.5, so I don't have the details. The basic idea would be to schedule everything in publisher - first reload the file, then create a PDF report from it, then email the report. Someone else will need to provide the details, or let me know if I have the basics wrong.
Thanks for your answer. Can it create pdf report or excell report also?. I need to attach excell report with email.
Well, I know you can export data to Excel, so I wouldn't be surprised if you could automate that through publisher. And even if you can't do it through publisher, I'm certain you could do it through macros. What I don't think you'd get is any of the QlikView graphs recreated in Excel, but it might do an image export of the graph. I'm not sure, I'm afraid. I've just never had that requirement.
I've heard that there's a third party product which is coming out which will allow you to do just that - create reports in Excel from QlikView data and then schedule one off or periodic publishing of those reports.
