Hi Peoples,
I'm working with a files in network and I want to have a control with users modify those files.
Anyone know how to do this using QlikView?
What do you mean with control? You want to control the access to the files? Or do you want do record who modified the files?
Are you talking about some special or a few files or a complete folder or many folders?
I believe the first steps to take are pretty independent from QlikView, but may depend on the host system of your network drives.
To monitor file access, you can look into something like
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/310399
then parse the log e.g. in QlikView.
To monitor and control the access, you can use a source control tool, like subversion, GIT, MS Team Foundation server, etc.
But there are hundreds of tools and solutions possible, hard to tell without knowing what your exact requirements are.
I'm only want to know if the file was modified, who do it. the problem is that there are alot of users with access to the file because those in network.
There are times others users modifies the files and I do not know who do it.
I suposse the fire has few that tell you for example, the date when it was created, the owner user, the user modified, etc.
I know there are QV function that tell you the filesize, the file dir, etc. but i whould like how modified.
Hi,
You can restrict users by assigning folder permissions to whom you want to provide.
You can also Tortoise SVN source control to monitor/trace who did what changes and it also maintains different versions.
HOpe this helps you.
