How to let user to access only his /her Document but not others. PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS PRIORITY for me

Hi,

I have NTFS instead of DMS. I created Documents CaLs to the qvw dashboards whihc users can able to access. But the users can able to see all the documents whihc are not related to them. I don't want this to apply. I want to give access to the user to access only his/her document to see not the others. Could anyone help me with step by step process how to do this please.

I don't want to have section access without section access is there any other way to do this.

will it work if I go ---->properties---->security--->

Please help me.

Thanks.

Set the NTFS persmissions by document using the Windows security. Users will see only documents if the have NTFS Read access.

Hi Amelia,

I don't really have time to write up a guide on how to do this, apart from the instructions I've already given - so here's a Microsoft article which should help - File and Folder Permissions

It is only available when in DMS-mode.

Ask your System Administrator to set File level permissions on the QlikView Server Machine. For all users that should not be able to see or open a document, deny Read Permission for this document. For all others, allow Read permission.

Note that this is a QlikView forum, not a Windows SysAdmin forum.

HI Amelia,

Go to the folder where the report is distributed.i.e in reporting folder

Rght Click on the qvw file , Properity ->security settings and add the persons ID in that list.

Try this and if you have issue in this , please attach the screen shot of same.

Thanks

Hi Amelia.

As all have stated above.

- The authentication, when using NTLM, is all done with Windows ACL:s

- If using IIS, make sure all users must authenticate (in QMC)

- If using IIS, make sure the QvAjaxZfc application is using Windows authentication

If you haven't already, please Read The qlikview server referenceF Manual for the specific version and service release that you use.

You will find what you want in:

Part 4 Security

Chapter 13 Authentication

> Page 75

Your scenario is covered in the manual as a simple basic scenario.

Therefore there exists loads of information out there (Google etc.)

duckduckgo dot com, search for qlikview authentication

Google dot com, search for qlikview authentication

I hope this helps you in understanding how to accomplish this.

Click on Edit, then Add. Search for the person you need to restrict access to. Then when they're in the list, select all the Deny permissions. Then OK back out. Rinse and repeat for all docs you need to restrict access to.

Hi Amelia,

I've seen situations where the permissions can take some time to take effect. It may be that this is what's happening here.
