Attached is the snapshot of error,
Hello,
That's a limitation that comes with the personnal edition.
You can only use the QVW you have created with that version. You cannot use a file that have been created with a licenced version of QV.
Philippe
Hi Philippe,
Strange! I think that should applies on non licensed version rather on licensed....
Is there any solution or support for this limitation?
I ask the same question to Jason.
I am waiting for the answer on that point.
Philippe
Now I have uninstall ver 9 and re-install the 8.5 ver.. Will look forward for the support on QV 9.0

You have to buy a QlikView 9 license to be able to open any qvw file in QlikView 9. If you already have a QlikView 9 license, make sure to register it in QlikView (an "unlicensed" QlikView 9 is the same thing as QlikView Personal Edition). Also, the evaluation period of 15 days in QlikView 8.5 has been replaced by QlikView Personal Edition.
Hi Kristoffer,
Thanks for the information. will got the license file by tomorrow then will try the same.

Shumail Hussain
Do you know if it's Ok to run Macros from buttons or events in the QV9 personal edition, as I dont appear to be able to do this and I am not convinced about spending money on something that does not appear to work...!
Strange. I have had no problems opening my licensed 8.5 files in my version 9 personal edition. I can't keep track of what we are and aren't supposed to be able to do, and what is and isn't a bug vs. a licensing problem. *grumble*
Yes, I'm sure it's all very simple if I took the time to read up on it. I frankly don't care enough to bother, which to me is a bad sign for QlikTech. It's not like they'll lose me as a customer. I know it's a great product, we're committed to it as a company, and we'll be officially upgrading in a month or two. But if this is frustrating to me, it HAS to be frustrating for people new to the product.
As for running macros and actions from buttons in QV9 personal edition, yes, I've done that, so that works. I haven't done anything to respond to events, though. Ah, wait, easy enough for me to test... yes, it triggers macros from events just fine. I have a new FAILURE in my macro, which doesn't really surprise me, since they seem to change the API with every version. But it triggered just fine.
If you install version 9 on your desktop and it already have a licensed version of qlikview 8 installed then your qlikview 9 will be a licensed version not personal version. Then you could open your old qvw .
