Interactive planning in Qlikview

Hi all,

I am new to Qlikview, have got a trial copy of the software and starting to understand it's capabilities around planning.   The finance team I am working with (unsurprisingly) rely heavily on Excel and therefore I am comparing to other products such as TM1 where you can setup calculations, and users can directly input data to run a budget - eg input volumes or values, or staff details etc and it can calculate an annual budget / forecast there & then.

Can I do this in Qlikview as a user?  I have seen a third party bolt-on KliqPlan which seems to claim it can do this, is this the only way and how does it work ie. does it work real-time, does it integrate with Excel? where is the data stored?

Thanks

Steve

QLikview integrates with Excel and we can perform all operations on the same.

Hi,

by "perform all operations" what does this refer to?   I can;t find any way in Qlikview of entering data or creating calculations as a user, so I understood this needed the Kliqplan bolt on, but this has apparently only just been released and is presumably unproven.

Are you able to enter data and run budgets as a user (ie not an administrator?)

Thanks

Hi steven,

I interpret ur question as if user is able to get data from excel and perform calculations.

If this is the question then u can load excel files in qlikview and perform calculations on it and display in charts.

Thanks

QV provides the INPUTFIELD feature which allows for "what if" analysis. It has some limitations, but can be successful in implementing scenarios like planning and forecasting.

INPUTFIELD values are remembered between sessions for a user. There is no native writeback capability, so you cannot have a user update a shared master plan without writing some code.

Steve,

I don't want to extol the virtues of our solution. Here you can find the opinion of Olof Malmström from Climber (one of our leading partners): http://community.qlik.com/message/267446.

We only sell our solutions through partners.

If you are an end user you can get all the info from Climber. If you are a QlikView partner please contact us (https://ktlabs.wufoo.eu/forms/information-request-form/) and we will be glad to give you a full overview with a live demo.
