Leased Licence to pc not on domain

Hi

We have a demo machine that we use to for demos of our software and Qlikview. The demo machine though is not on the domain and they login with a local admin account on this pc. How do I set it up to get a leased license as we want to demo more than 3 models to clients at a time.

Not sure if understood you right. If you create all three (or even more) on the same demo machine, you can show them without having license, because with PE version of qv isn't limited by number of applications you can create.

It is three Models from our server which we want to copy over to the demo PC, but it's not linked on the domain so I cannot get the leased license, if they open the three models then the "Free" licenses are gone, what then if a change is made on a model and copied over or a 4th model is coped to this machine, then it will not be able to open any further models right?

works fine if the user is on the domain , but in this case the user is not on the domain

You should be able to open a document on the server using a specific user you can set in the 'open on server' dialog.

No need that the user running the PC is on the domain, you just need to give a user that can authenticate on the server and is authorized to open a QVW and lease a license.

Since a machine domain is isolated from everything else and therefor a DSC cannot connect to a domain controller to query for users (because there is no domain controller), you cannot assign a Named CAL in QMC using the standard DSC-based query technique.

However... if you look at the bottom of the Manage Users dialog (in QMC->System->Licenses->Your server->Client Access Licenses (CALs)->Assigned CALs->Assigned Users, click the Users icon in the right corner of the list heading) you should find a field called "Manual entry of User Names". Enter an account in the format:

Machinedomain\Accountname

and press Apply... Now try to lease that license to your non-domain computer using the standard Open in server... technique.

Ps You may be in trouble trying to gain access to the QlikView server machine from a non-domain/unknown machine. But that's a Windows problem.
