Leasing a licence from a newer version of Qlikview

Hi,

We are currently on QlikView version 11 sr2 on our server, I also have the same version of the Qlikview Desktop client installed locally on my machine and from the Start Page you could easily see that you leasing a licence as it would say at the top..."You are currently leasing a licence from..." and would show the server name.

I then uninstalled the desktop client and then installed the latest version Qlikview 11.2 sr12. I then went to "Open In Server" to lease a licence and from this version it is hard to know if it has leased a licence or not, as the Start page is different to version 11.

So my question is, can you lease a licence from a newer version of a desktop client from a older version that is on a server?

Thanks

So where can you see that it has been released correctly? As nothing on the start up screen?

Thanks

How can you tell that you have leased a license? The main method would be to note whether the title bar of QlikView Desktop says QlikView Personal Edition or QlikView x64, with the later indicating that QlikView Desktop is fully licensed. More granularly, Help > About QlikView will not have license information (since you do not have a license key, but merely a leased license).

As a side note, it isn't suggested to develop dashboards with a newer version than the server version that will host the completed dashboards. You run the risk of adding in functionality that the server version was not built to handle.

The qlikview desktop window title changes from

QlikView Personal Edition to QlikView x64,

or else, when you create an application , go to document support info (Ctrl+Shift+Q) in third section you will get information , you also get expiry information of leasing..
