Load data - from .txt files vs .qvd

Hi!

Bit of a newbie but we are currently loading data from multiple .txt files. They are extracted from our DB2 at night and the loaded early in the morning in QV.

The largest file is about 2,4 GB (which contains basically all our sales transactions) and a couple of them around 5-600 MB.

My question is if we should consider loading the data into QVD instead. Not that we are really experiencing any performance issues (but if could be improved hey 🙂 )

Thanks for any pointers on this topic.

As most. Should the data loaded into QVD. The files will be smaller, and indexed content, which will speed up loading into QlikView.

Hi,

I think there is no need of loading data into QVD in the following scenarios

- If you are using data in only one Dashboard

- If you are not implementing the Incremental loading

In this scenarios you can directly load the data from text files itself, loading into QVDs and then loading into QVWs is time taking process.

Regards,

jagan.

Hi Erik,

Reloading time can be reduced when data is pulled from qvds, than any other data sources.
