Hi, i'am new to QlikView, and so i'm browsing the Forum to learn about the program. Sometimes i find answers with useful qlik file example but when i open them in Qlik View personal edition it says the file is from another personal edition and give me only 4 try to reset and open the file. These is a way to avoid this, so i can learn from other's developers example?
Many Thanks
Achille
Hi,
Using Personal edition you cannot open a document saved by a licensed QlikView client,
If you have Qlikview Server you can lease license from that. This is the limitation of personal edition Qlikview Desktop.
Source from manual:
you cannot share your QlikView documents with another unregistered user, or open a Qlik-
View document from another user (exempted are documents specially prepared for personal use by
QlikTech). However, documents created in QlikView Personal Edition can be used with a licensed
copy of QlikView desktop and they can also be published on a QlikView Server."
Hope this helps you

Deva

Hi
Ok. Many Thanks, But it's too bad this make impossible use the flise shared in the community to learn.
Bye
Achille
I too am new to Qlikview and am running up against the same problem.
I have the Personal Edition, and want to see if I am able to setup the dashboard as required by my client using Qlikview or QlikSense, demo it to them and get them to purchase the Licensed versions.
I am scanning the community for areas that I am struggling with (Awesome community I must add), and over the past few months I have worked and learned from typed examples provided in the forum and managed to find my solution from that, however, I ran into an issue yesterday that I was not able to solve, so I downloaded several example which I believed could assist me in understanding and solving several issues I have in getting the dashboard completed in time for my deadline.
To my surprise and horror I too just discovered that I would only be able to look at 4 examples and would then need a license to look at more. This is a disaster, if I had know this (guess I should have read the full "Personal Edition" license), I would not have invested the past 4 months into using Qlikview/QlikSense and furiously promoting it to my client.
The sad thing is that I can see that Qlikview and Qliksense is the right answer for my client, but I am afraid it seems that I too will have to walk away from it in search for an alternative option.(Client will not invest in the project unless I can prove it will work and generate the dashboard he requires)
I wish there was a way for Qlik to make it so that examples downloaded from their community forum was exempt from this limitation. I am convinced there must be a way for them to do this?
Even if they made the downloaded example unchangeable so that one can just see how something was done, or have some special hidden code or something that show that it was downloaded from the Qlik community forum to exempt it.
I would even be happy if by some way the examples on the forums can be run directly on their own website (so cannot be used to bypass not buying the product) as I am just interested in seeing it work and how the example was achieved and then copying and trying the code and modifying it in my own project, so I can understand how it was done and how to do it myself. (It would also have greatly assists in speeding up the process of learning and getting my project done in time, so I can show the client that Qlik view and Qlik Sense is the answer for him)
Seems this is a sad day for me and such a shame.:(
Hi Guys and gals
Not to worry to respond to my message, I have managed to find an alternative, "Power BI" from Microsoft, and it seems to be as good as Qlik Sense and the BIG + is that it does not have this ridiculous limitation on downloading and accessing learning examples.
Thanks
Bye
PS: Can you please go ahead and delete my account and profile on here as I will no longer be needing it, thanks
