Personal edition error

Hi,

I am getting the following message while trying to open a document using personal edition:

Your installation of Qlikview has exceeded the maximum number of document recoveries allowed for a Personal Edition license. To continue using QlikView you will need to purchase a full QlikView License.

I tried to uninstall the software and reinstall it but it didn't work.

Any Ideas?

Thxs,

Hi Alec,

That's the expected behavior when you have already spent the whole four license change attempts. Please check this document to better understand how QlikView Personal Edition works.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Did you try to open more then three document which was created by others or licensed file?

if so, you can't use the qlikview further. Want to download again and install it. I think so.

Hope it helps.

Thanks & Regards, Mayil Vahanan R

Alec,

The reason why you getting this message is because your Qlikview doesn't have Valid License Key.

Go to help, License update and you will see that current lisence key in your case will be blank.

You have to contact Qliktech to get a valid license key.

Also you can lease license via server for certain number of days. Which I am not exactly sure.

But you can find about it in other threads on the community

All,

Same issue once I migrated from QV10 to QV11SP1: no more able to open my own qvw (only copied one time from my old computer)

Why such disapointing PE licencing issue?

Miguel_Angel_Baeyens

Hi,

To put it straight, it's not an issue, it's working as designed. Each installation of QlikView creates a unique key (and hence the dialog that pops up the first time you save a document with a PE) that means that you can use the software only for that installation. So if you install the software in your computer that is shared by more users, when the second user logs on, the key is different, although the computer is the same.

As QlikView understands that there may some situations when some additional attempts may be needed, such as computer crashes, hard disk changes or so, Personal Edition allows up to 4 key changes. If you change your hard disk, that spends one attempt for the whole life of the new disk.

And, pasted from the FAQ (read: official licensing policy):

Do QVPE Users qualify for upgrades?

Yes. We post new releases on the web using our QlikView download page. You can redownload QlikView at any point and install an updated version on your existing machine and continue working with documents that you have already created. NOTE: If you have exhausted your recovery attempts, downloading a new version or redownloading the same version will not reset the counter

Hope that makes sense.
