QlikView .exe

Hi there

I saw a demonstration of QlikView last week and was very impressed.

Can I issue my customers with a set of results in a royalty free .exe with all the necessary QlikView components? (exactly like the downloadable examples). If so, what edition of QlikView do I need to get?

Thanks very much

Jon

Jon,

Based on your description, I would say the best solution might be to purchase QlikView Server with Session and/or Usage CALs. This would allow anonymous users to open QlikView documents using the AJAX client. In this scenario, there is no program download, install or licensing on the client side. In fact, this is how http://demo.qlik.com works.

You can purchase QlikView products either directly from QlikTech or through a reseller partner (like my company) as long as you are not an established QlikTech customer.

Thanks,

Phil

Thanks Enrique

So if I purchased QlikView Developer, I could issue my customers who have no license with a QlikView file they could open and use?

Thanks very much

Hi, I am afraid they will not be able to open the QV files you create and share with them if they are using the Personal edition. They too will need a licensed copy.

Jon,

The current licensing intent (my understanding, as of V9) of QlikView is to charge for use of the product, but not development. Therefore, QlikView Developer for Personal Use can be downloaded and used for no cost. However, these licenses are not allowed to open (use) standard QlikView documents developed by any other user.

I believe what you are asking is for no cost use of the QlikView documents. This does not exist in the standard licensing model for QlikTech. There is some special version of QlikView that is, as far as I know, only available internally to support developing license-free use of a QlikView document - primarily for demo and training purposes.

Of course, you can develop reports in a standard QlikView document that can be printed and freely distributed as a PDF.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Amit, Phil

We do a lot of Market Research and it would be great to give our customers a read only file (very much along the lines of the MPs expenses) that they could open themselves and manipulate, without the need for a license.....

So if I'm correct Phil, the demo .exes have been generated from the 'special version' of QlikView which isn't available to the public? (sorry to go over this, but I'd like to be sure!)

Thanks

Hi,

What you actually meant, I think was to have a QlikView file emedded in an exe file. You then want to distribute the file to your customers. I am right?

I saw such a thing here in Romania. To solve this, you have to prepare the document you want to be distributed. Then you have to give it to QlikTech guys and they will make an .exe file out of it, using a solution that is not public. Of course I guess they will ask money for it.

So, my advise is to contact QlikTech, telll them what yhou want and I am sure they can help you.

Regards,

John
