Qlikview 11 to 12 upgrade?

Hi,

we are looking to upgrade from qlikview 11 to 12. do we have a guide to do so?

if anyone has experience with the same, can you share the common  issues faced during the migration, or if you have any documents related to it, common issues, Pre & Post migration checklist etc?

Thanks in advance.

Its pretty straightforward

  1. Backup your apps
  2. Backup your c:\programdata\qliktech folder
  3. Install the new version
  4. Test

Of course, please check first the Release Notes

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Did you face any issues with the container objects in qv 11, after installing qv12?

and does qv12 support the version 11 qvd files as well?

Thanks

In addition to reading the release notes, here are issues I'm aware of that you must consider:

Yes, QV11 QVDs are compatible with QV12.

It´s supposed to be backwards compatilhe.

  • QVD files have the same structure, ok
  • No issue reported here about container.

Please download the QV Desktop version and teste your more important applications and check if everything goes well

Hi,

which version do you want to upgrade to?

If you want to upgrade to qv12.sr1, don't do that, because of many bugs.

there is new sr2  with many bugfixes, but i personnaly have no experiences with that version.

i am testing that in the moment on a local installation with generating qvds and reload of reports.

all these tests were fine, until now.

hope that helps

regards

ps :

here is "my" discussion about experiences with QV12 SR2:

I want to upgrade my QlikView server from version 11.20 to 12. SR3.

When I start the QlikViewServerx64.msi, a previous installation is detected. And I must confirm an 'uninstall earlier version' before I can continue.

After selecting the region, accepting the license agr. and customer information, you need to specify the destination folder.

After this step you should expect that the installation routine detect automatically all the current installed services and just upgrade them with the existing configuration. But I have to re-specify my server profile, is this the normal behavior of the upgrade installation? And if I do so (suppose I exactly select the same services of the previous installation), will the upgrade routine keep all my previous settings;

And I also have to re-specify my IIS webserver. I hope the current instance will be reused?

Because the upgrade from V11 to V12, does an uninstall, it's expected that you will have to respecify your server profile.

Hi Rob,

Oké I can re-specify all installed qlikview services, but all my qlikview-server-configurattion-settings will remain intact, I hope?
