Selecting multiple rows in a grid. check box or Ctrl multi-select?

I am trying to determine if there is a way to select multiple non-adjacent rows in a grid. For example, I want to select and not filter, rows 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and then 10-27 at once. Ctrl and Shift do not seem to work for me. As of now, I can select 1, 2, 3 but that is as far as I can get. Or, is ther any way to put "check boxes" in as a field where we could select what fields we need by selecting the check box. Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure what you mean by "in a grid". Like in a straight table? I don't think charts are as flexible as list boxes in regards to the use of control click or shift click.

In one case, I stuck a list box on top of the dimension of a chart, and was very careful with the formatting so that it looked like it was part of the chart, and made certain that the chart rows and the list box would always be aligned.

You CAN convert list boxes to check boxes. Properties -> Presentation -> Selection Style Override -> Windows Checkboxes.

Ctrl and Shift doesn't work in a grid because it has not unique data. To do selection what you are thinking about, you need to create a List Box object with values for selection.

You can also enable the option of "Drop Sown Select" for each column in the presentation tab of the object.

In QV 10, list boxes can have multiple expressions like tables and they still behave like list boxes in layout and non-adjacent selections.

Regards.

To be more specific, I am creating an application that will allow users to view data in a grid in qlikview where the user can alter the data in a specific field called "status". Once this change has been made in the QVW, it will write-back to the qvd and then ultimately to the sql source table. The problem I am having is when a user wants to change the "status" field of multiple non-adjacent rows at once instead of one at a time. The user wants to change the status of rows 1, 2, and row 5 with 1 action. hope that clarifies a little better what we are trying to do.
