Sort Dropdown select

Hi All,

I have a "customer" table which is sorted by Sum(Sales). I added dropdown select to this table & I want to sort it alphabetically.

Any body has any suggestion?

Thank,

Nima

Hi Nima,

You allready sort the data by Sum(Sales). Use straight table and you see a triangle arrow on the heading of customer when you double click it it will automoatically sort opposite to sort like alphabatical order descending ar acending order like A-Z, Z-A. With the help of this you sort Sum(Sales) to alphabetical order.

Hope this helps you.

Hi

Hmm, if I get a straight table sorted by expression (sum of sales) like in picture on left, and then I add a dropdown select, the list is sorted aphabetically. I just did a standard straight table, deactivated the sort of dimension model name, and set sort of expression to numerical. Activated drop down on dimension. The original table is not sorted by name.

P.S. Even if I activate sort on dimension, but interactively sort by expression, the drop down list is still sorted alphabetically.

Hi Anand,

Thanks for reply. Here is what I have:

A pivot table with customers, already sorted by sum(sales). As I said I have added a dropdown select on this dimension. The problem is apparently we can not sort the dropdown select in other way and it will sorted automatically based on the customer sort.

Thanks,

Hello Stefan,

What I have is a picot table and has been sorted by expression sum(sales). apparently straight table and pivot table behave differently.

Thanks,

hi Nima,

I just checked a pivot table. Set sort to y-value.

Drop down list is still sorted alphabetically.

Using QV 10 SR2.

Stefan

Ok, got it. If you set sort by expression, the drop down will also be sorted like that.

Hi

There is no need to select the drop down in this condition. If you have any sample please share it.

Thanks Stefan,

You know I have sales and weight in this pivot . I also have  expression to alternate the rows color. I have to use sum(sales) for sorting  not Y-Value.I tried your suggestion and it did not work for my case.

Thanks for following.
