TRANSFER SELECTION BETWEEN DOCUMENTS

Hi guys and gals.....me again. Here is a new one.

Our company has a number of different Qlikview documents: Inventory, Sales, Pricing, Usage, Purchasing, etc

One of the complains from the users is that they are CONSTANTLY flipping back and forth between documents when they are working in Qlikview and they have to RE-ENTER their parameters every time.

Example:      The division manager for Edmonton opens the INVENTORY document. He selects "Edmonton" as the division so he can filter the data see only his inventory. He selects a specific part# that has excess inventory and wonders "what is our purchase history on that part#?". He opens the PURCHASES document in qlikview and has to select Edmonton again and type in a long part# to filter the data and wait for the screen to refresh. He sees that that part # is being purchased from a couple of different vendors - he selects one of the vendors and then wants to know "when we buy that part from that vendor, who are we selling it to?". He opens the SALES document......and has to enter "Edmonton", enter the Part#, enter the vendor......AAARRG!

The same happens with date boundaries where you look at sales in this quarter and then want to quickly look at purchases in this quarter and you have to re-enter your filter selections every time you go to the next document.

IS THERE A WAY OF 'HANDING OFF' THE SELECTORS between documents so that, if i pick a specific division in one document, it automatically filters the next document when i open it?

have you tried using Transfer state while calling another qvw from one qvw.

Yes. That does not work. I have that checked off on my button but it does not carry through. I don't really know the detail requirements to make that work. It would be FANTASTIC if it were that simple.

I think your problem might be a known bug that doesn't work in desktop, but will work in the server if you are using the Ajax client.

make sure the qvw name you are calling/linking to does not contain any special characters - that can cause issues
