Unable to add a new sheet

Hello All,

I've been trying for a while now to add a new sheet to an existing Qlikview application but with no joy.  I've taken over this work, as the person who originally created this no longer works for us, but for some reason i can't add a sheet.  I'm fairly new to Qlikview, and it may be something simple, so if any one can help that would be much appreciated.

Hello Alan,

Can I ask if you did this with my attached Qlikview application?

For some really weird reason this is not working for me.  Could it be my permissions to the folder the Qlikview application resides in?  The strange thing is I am able to make changes to the application and save these, but for adding a new sheet I'm getting no joy.

Hi,

Do you have admin rights over this file??

Open this QVW in developer on server and then try it...

Hello Colin,

I am opening this in the Qlikview program, and not on the server if this is what you mean?  Please excuse my ignorance, as I'm fairly new to Qlikview.

There are two options on the File menu, Open and "Open in Server". If you use Open in Server the app is opened with user permissions not admin permissions and the design functionality is not available,

Oooooh, now we are getting somewhere.

Shruti, I have just opened this on the Server and I was able to add a sheet on it there.  This is after i clicked on the Document Properties--->Security---> and then clicked the 'Add Sheet' and 'Admin Override Security' options.

What does this mean exactly?  Would I need to do this each time I need wish to add a new sheet?

Hi Paul,

Yes I downloaded the qvw you uploaded and made the changes, as you can see from the image below I created a a new sheet called "Sheet 15"

Try saving the .qvw as Paul.qvw and then make the changes to see what happens

You will not need to tick the options each time.

The original author has set the security options so users cannot add sheets. By clicking the Admin Override Security option, Admin users would be able to add a sheet when the Adds Sheet option is not ticked as they have an override enabled.

Cheers Colin,

The option I always use is just the normal 'Open' option, rather than the 'Open In Server' option.  I've just tried opening in server and I see what you mean.

After Shruti's suggestion, I went onto the server and opened it on there.  I then tried the suggestions given previously and for some reason (I'm not sure what) I was able to add a new sheet.  What i don't wish to do, is to go through that every time I want to add a sheet.  I'm guessing there is an easier way of doing this.

Sorry Colin, I should have been a bit clearer, what I meant to say is - would I have to go onto the server for each Qlikview application that I have built and tick these options?  Is there an easier way of doing this from the desktop version?

i realise that once those boxes are ticked then they should remain in place until manually altered.

It worked properly for me when I opened your document. Are you opening the document  in Qlikview desktop (and NOT using the Open in Server option)?

If you did not install desktop yourself, are you sure that your install allows editing? This is set in options in the settings.ini file (usually in C:\Users\<USR_NAME>\Application Data\QlikTech\QlikView).
