What does a QVD structure means?

I just had a meeting in which one of Qlikview Consultant said that please send me the QVD structure. I am assuming that I need to send him Load QVWs for individual QVDs and that is what structure means.

Am I right or I need to give him any more or less information for QVD structure?

Thanks,

TA

Hi,

it's a table file. You can load from wizard table file in load script of qlikview.

one qvd is one table in qlikview.

you can open and view it  with this sw too:

My questions is if some one ask me to qive me the QVD structure, I should give him the QVWs which are used to create the QVDs...right?

why not ask him directly? because different consultant may ask things differently. I do not think there is something called QVD structures in qlikview reference manual.

I assume he either wants to know the structure of the table that is stored in the qvd (field names, field type / format) or if you were talking about a larger scale deployment maybe the structure of your ETL processes, when you process multiple qvw and store intermediate outputs into qvds.

But that's wild guessing, so I think alexpanjhc hits the point: why not ask the consultant (or someone who is supposed to know in more detail)? At least one who knows the context of your meeting and tasks.

Hi,

I believe that you can describe your architecture based on one of the templates of the following document

http://community.qlik.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/231307-40117/Microsoft%20PowerPoint%20-%20Qli...

You can describe it as much as you want. You can negociate with the consultant the details that you should provide.

You can describe the sources, extractors, qvds and so on.

You can list the tables or even describe all the fields.

Hope it helps,

Erich

Hi,

try to open Table Viewer (Ctrl+T) and Export Table Structure.

You can save in a folder the structure of table (qvd) in an excel format, and then send it to Qlikview Consultant.
