average line

Hi,

I want to show an average line in my bar chart. I have selected average trendline but I want to show a label over this line which mentions that it is an average line and show the average value as a label over the line. How can I do this? Or is there some other option that enables me to do this?

Hi,

Try "Text in chart" option avaibale under presentation tab.

Once the text is available on chart, you can drag that at the position you want. To drag the text you need to  press Ctrl+Shift.

Thanks for the tip Kaushik. The problem with this method is that the average line is not always going to be the same so when the average changes, the label and line are going to be in different positions

To show the average value over the line, just check option 'Show equation' next to your selected trendline.

This will just write 'y=2' for example, not 'Average = 2'

You can also try to create an additional expression that calculates your average, and use a line style in display options. Create an expression for the label that shows your text and number as needed.
