hi
As of my knowledge, we can't able to edit the variable name.
Hi variable once created can not rename the variable name, more over what is the use of variable name rename as we are not going to show mostly in the front end dashboard.
There is no option to change variable name. Copy the Definition of variable and create new variable by pasting the definition.
i want to document all variables used.
so if i can edit; i can copy name to document it.
1) Create an InputBox
2) Add all the variables that you want to copy
3) Copy the InputBox object
4) Paste it in destination document
5) Done. The variables are also copied.
Create your variables in the script to make them transportable to another QlikView document.
For your documentation and maintenance you can create an external file (excel, txt, ...) with all the variables.
Make columns with names, the variable content. Load this table, loop the table to create the variables.
This way you can add the same variables to any QlikView document and only have to maintain this in 1 place.
Defining variables in the script itself gives us flexibility to change its name or copy it to different QV document at any point of time. This is one of the best practices for qlikview usage.
Hi Prudhvi,
Best info.. we can't edit Variable name but we can do alternate source but i am not sure that, just do like:
settings-> Document Settings -> select Variable Tab -> settings for selected Variable -> you select vale in that you can write condition for name
I am not sure, i think we have choice, your perfect in coding you can write and think logical way.
