How i can reduce the grid width ?

I think it taken by default you need to reduce the width of the chart so automatically it will reduce the size

can you not just resize the chart, or is there another reason?

just resize the widht of the grid

I suppose that you could select the chart and Ctrl & SHIFT and then resize the actual graph component of he chart.
