Tony,

You need a QlikView Server license to get working the Ajax client. There is no QlikView Server "Personal Edition" so you will not be able to install a Server in your computer and test the Ajax client. The closer you can get is enabling WebView mode, in the Settings menu, Document properties, General tab, click and Apply "Use WebView in Layout".

Hope that helps.

Thank you Miguel,

I tried it on the server, it worked.

But to go back to the original question: "how to create a product demo" to be delivered to users who even do not have qlikView on their machines.

We noticed that Qliktech are delivering demo applicaktions having 2 versions: the source .qvw and the same .exe files.

Examples: QlikView - Recipe Box.exe & QlikView - Order and Inventory Management.exe

Can we do the same? if not what is the alternative?

Thank you in advance finding an answer

Hi Tony,

.EXE files cannot be generated in Server. Only QlikView (QlikTech) has the ability to create an EXE file for demo purposes, and this is used in very few cases. What you can do is make the QVW files available via the Ajax client, that requires no installation other than a browser in the user's computer. The user that is going to see the reports will need any kind of license (Document CAL, Named CAL). This license has to be assigned to the user that logs into the AccessPoint when prompted (note that some browsers are set up to pass current user credentials y default and you may need to change this if the users in the QlikView Server do not match with the users logged into the computer).

Another option is to install QlikView Desktop in each client user, but this does not seem feasible in your case.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Miguel,

But I'll have to pay the CAL for a demo version, and the client will get it for free.

Do you know if there a 1 month trial CAL's ?

Tony

Hi Tony,

There are no limited or trial licenses. Anyway, the best you can do is contact your Partner Manager or Sales rep so he or she can give better advice on the customer. For example, you can lease a license from your client's server if he allows to do so, so you have a fully licensed version of QlikView.

Note that all demo files are available to Personal Edition, so you don't need any license to open them, or I am missing something?

Hope that helps.
