I have a txt file and trying to open it in Qlikview. Delimiting the file using tab but unfortunately one of the field contains text information and also it contains Quotes, semicolon and tab within it. So when i use the TAB as delimiter value is moved to other columns. could anyone help me to overcome this issue.
Regards,
Narayanan.
Can you try some other delimiter such as pipe (|) or tilde (~) ?
Hi Nagaian,
I tried using pipe and tilde but then it consider all the values in one column. But I wanted it as an individual column.
Thanks and Regards,

Please post a few lines of your text data file having problem characters.
You will need to filter out those records that do not conform to the file standard (i.e. by having more field separators than allowed).
I would suggest loading the whole record into a single field then calculating the number of tabs in the data and storing only those records with the correct number of tabs into an intermediate QVD ready for processing while you pass the other data back for checking.
