what is intermediate qvd? where we use this ?
Extract data from database into intermediate qvd
Load data from intermediate qvd , transform data and store into final qvd
Load data from final qvd into dashboard qvw
In Qlikview, you can store a table in a .qvd file.
You can use an application (commonly called "DATA_name.qvw") who reads the database and store each table in qvd files. So, another application could proccess it, like creating linking tables and make corrections in string fields... And again, stores the new tables in another qvd files... Finally, the end user application only reads this qvd's...
I dont know how are you using Qlikview, but it is the best way to work. If you read the database each time for every application you have, you are losing one of the most better part of Qlikview!!
hello mr.
i know use of qvd's
read the question carefully
i raised a question what is intermediate qvd?
It is as Sebastian has said.
For example, I have a large database of customer details. I recreate this overnight into a QVD file (which is over 100MB itself) so that I can use it with my other QVW models, where it then loads supertfast.
It is 'internediate' because its between the raw database and the model itself.
Hi,
Can you please let me know where you came across this term 'Intermediate QVDs' ? I have so far heard only about QVDs
Extract data from database into intermediate qvd
Load data from intermediate qvd , transform data and store into final qvd
Load data from final qvd into dashboard qvw
What do you understand an 'intermediate' QVD to be, other that what has been explained in the answers given?
So here these are baically normal qvds that are used as intermediate staging files...it is not a special file type as I understod form the question...correct me if there is any gap in my understanding
