Few points as below:

In straight table and pivot you can add expressions, ie sum(Amount), whereas in the table box you can add only the available field (no calculation).

In Straight Table or Pivot Table one can calculate the value using expression such as SUM, COUNT, Aggregation. But in Table Box you can not use any aggregation function. Table is just a display of Records

Table-charts are like the other chart-types aimed to show a certain view of the data - mostly rather more than less consolidated and often with additionally conditions.

A tablebox instead is used to show the data like they are directly - in the way they are loaded into qlikview (especially if there is an unique record-identifier included within the tablebox like an ID or if there are no unique ID available with a own created ID per recno/rowno - then otherwise would be duplicates hidden from the tablebox).

TableBox:

You do not have expressions, just specify the dimensions you required.

Grouping is not possible.

Straight Table:

You have to write one or more expressions.

Grouping is not possible.

Sub totals is not possible.

Expression Total and Sum of rows mode is available for expression.

Better performance.

Pivoting of dimension is not possible.

COLAPSE/EXPAND column is not possible.

Pivot Table:

You have to write one or more expressions.

Grouping is possible.

Sub totals is possible.

Expression Total  mode is available for expression.

Poor performance when compared to Straight table.

Pivoting of dimension is possible.

COLAPSE/EXPAND column is possible.

Hi,

from the help file:

table box

A sheet object that contains a record oriented view of data. Any set of fields can be chosen as columns, and possible combinations of field values are shown on different lines.

Straight table

A sheet object that allows several dimensions as well as several expressions with aggregated data, and has good sorting capabilities.
