I think Chart means presentation of Data in such a way that they make more sense than the raw data they are produced from. Objective is to transform that data into information.

Now this information can be presented in a chart either in Graphical (such as Bar, Line, Scatter, Grid, PIE etc) or

Tabular (Straight table or Pivot table) manner.

HI,

As sudeep said, Charts are ment for representation of the data more clear and the way we want to see that data,

Special for Pivot and Straat tables are , you can do row level caluculations and total sums like butter fly charts,
I there are number of values that you need to see then it becomes problem with image charts,

in these tabluar chart you can add N number of exp and you ca see all these at a time up to the limit .

Thanks

Just my personal opinion...

Because they are charts.

From my point of view a chart is a way of representing aggregated information (expressions) using a field to aggregate (dimension). Having that in mind the difference between a pivot table and a bar chart is only the way you represent the results on the screen.

Besides that, it allows QlikView to calculate the results efficiently using the calculation engine:

And what's more important... it allows the developer to quick change between chart and table

As I said just my opinion, but for me they wouldn't make sense being a different object (maybe I'm just to used to see it that way).

Hope it helps.

Best regards.
