Download/Export Data - Batch Cycle through dimension value
Attachments
Could we have the option in the Download Screen to allow a end user to cycle through the different values in a dimension and batch downloads, in any of the three export formats. It would be great to do the same and allow for an export of the whole sheet as .jpg/.pdf, again cycling through dimension values.
It would ideally appear as a dropdown to select the dimension or field from the data model. I've highlight where this would ideally appear in the screenshot attached.
Appreciate this overlaps with N-Printing/Qlik Reporting Service but providing this to the end user would give so much versatility and really unlock a lot of value for them, rather than "batch reporting" being seen as something external to Qlik or centrally run.
Thanks for the idea - an interesting one. I'd like to hear more community feedback on this idea on whether business users have this need. The batch requirement often quickly evolves to one dimension + some other set of criteria e.g. more complex task definition. Hope to see more discussion here.
In the meantime 😉 there is a native Qlik Extension called "ancoreShare" that enables you to compose & generate detailed and also cycled reports on-the-fly, based on the current selections and without any external dependencies just using the qlik reporting services.
In your case, you would just add a new ancoreShare report button on your dashboard, add all the Qlik objects you want in your report, add a cycle element and select the dimension, and anytime a user clicks this button an export of the report with current data and selections will be created as (PDF, PPTX, Images or Excel).
When we consider the request of the OP @RAG365 then the answer is "not really". 🤔
He asked for an "option in the Download Screen " to "allow an end user to cycle" rather than "batch reporting" so the trigger is based on the user context and his current selections and the resulting export should be directly downloaded. All this is not simple to accomplish with Qlik Automation.
@francesco_menin unfortunately, infrastructure constraints mean we can't harness the Qlik Reporting Service in the way we'd like - we have no connectivity to any assured storage environment to push reports to. We were hoping that Qlik would add a "store file locally on tenant" block into the application automation, but this (and downloading of files) doesn't seem to be something that has much traction.
Thanks @JustQlik i'll take a look at ancoreShare as it sounds promising.
included in ancoreShare Extension is an event-driven macro scripting engine that you can use to send the exports to any REST Service in order to store the data externally...
