Our professional services and support teams consists of operators and system analysts. Operators are primarily tasks with starting / stopping the Replicate service as well as triggering Full Loads or CDC processing. They are assigned the Operator role. System Analysts do the heavy lifting with regards to trouble shooting and triaging, but are not allowed to operate the service. They are assigned the Viewer role.
The challenge we face is that the Operator role has permissions to access debug related information that aids in triaging issues, yes the operators themselves lack the knowledge to make use of it. Whereas the system analysis have the knowledge, but lack the access to the detailed information since they are in the Viewer role.
We find a lot of time is wasted because system analysis are instructing operators on how to download and provide them with more debug information. Therefore, we'd like to have the following permissions extended to the role of Viewer in the next release of Replicate. They include:
- Download a memory report - Download a Diagnostics Package - View and download log files - Export tasks - View all of the endpoint settings in the Manage Endpoint Connections window.
