Support Direct Read of Backup log files for Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) in SQL Server

Qlik to provide new feature to support TDE enabled SQL server DB to allow direct read of Tlog backup files in Qlik replicate.

This is to help with catching up the extended latency caused during weekly online reindexing maintenance window. Currently we read directly with no TDE enabled Tlog files. The latency is about 10-14 hrs and we are able to catch up before the monday business hours. Due to infosec mandate of encryption at REST, we have to enable TDE on our source SQL server by Jan/Feb 2023. After TDE is enabled, we have to read from SQL directly instead of Tlogs. This will cause extended latency(30hrs) and we wont be able to catch up before monday morning business hours.

This feature will be very useful for our requirement, to address the requirement related to latency and load on source SQL servers. Eagerly waiting to see some traction on this feature.

Having the ability to direct access TDE encrypted backups from SQL server will definitely give better flexibility and benefit in terms of reducing contention on SQL server resources and faster latency , both are critical for our business requirements.

This feature is highly needed for our environment.  We are experiencing high latency and load on our AlwaysOn Availability Group SQL Servers.  Direct access to our TDE protected database backup is a critical requirement.
